In a Dodge Ram, the steering box and frame rail flex as the
driver turns the steering wheel. This flexing is greater if oversize
tires and or offset wheels are used. This problem is helped by the DSS. The DSS supports the
frame rails by tying them together giving them added support while bracing the bottom
of the sector shaft on the pitman arm of the steering box. This will
serve to eliminate sector shaft play in the steering box and minimize
frame flexing which are large contributors to wandering and poor road
feel. In our experience, we noticed immediately that the steering felt
tighter and the truck steering is less sloppy.
